Certified Candidates List Released for Inglewood’s November Elections

By: Eye On Inglewood Staff Writer

Inglewood, CA – The City Clerk’s office has unveiled the certified list of candidates vying for positions in the upcoming November elections, highlighting a mix of uncontested races and hotly contested ones.

Councilman Eloy Morales Jr. of the 3rd District and City Clerk Aisha Thompson will both retain their positions unchallenged, allowing them to potentially continue their current initiatives without the pressure of an electoral contest. Their unopposed status indicates strong support within their respective constituencies.

However, the race in other areas of Inglewood is considerably more competitive. Councilwoman Dionne Faulk of the 4th District faces a trio of challengers. Leslie Jones, owner of 1010 Wines and Events on La Brea, business owner Angelique Johnson, and community organizer Carlos Zurita have all thrown their hats into the ring, setting up a heated contest for the council seat. Faulk, who has served since being appointed to fill a vacancy, will have to work diligently to stand out among her diverse challengers.

Inglewood City Treasure office will also experience a shake-up as current City Treasure Wanda Brown opts not to seek re-election. The race to fill her position will see Deputy City Clerk Angela Allen against corporate attorney Taylor R. Bryant.

This contest promises to be dynamic, with both candidates bringing a wealth of experience and differing perspectives to the table.

The Inglewood School Board election will also be closely watched, especially the race for Trustee Area 4. Attorney Ronald Gomez is set to challenge the incumbent Area 4 Board Member Margaret Turner-Evans. Gomez's legal background may offer a formidable challenge to Turner-Evans' incumbency, setting the stage for a potentially transformative election for the school board.

Meanwhile, current School Board Member Ernesto Castillo, representing Area 5, will proceed uncontested, ensuring continuity in his position for the foreseeable future.

Inglewood residents now have a clear view of their choices as they prepare for the elections. The mix of uncontested races and those with multiple candidates is sure to spur engagement and debate among community members as they weigh their options for the city’s leadership.
