Inglewood, CA— The HARD Summer techno music festival held at SOFI Stadium this past weekend sparked a wave of noise complaints from residents, who reported that the event's booming music could be heard miles away across various neighborhoods. Complaints surfaced prominently on the Eye On Inglewood community platform, reflecting widespread frustration.
Among the most vocal critics was Baudy Dwayne, who voiced his displeasure in a social media post. "Someone at Inglewood city hall needs a pink slip Monday morning," Dwayne wrote. "I live on 76th and Gramercy and for 2 days I could hear the concert at SOFI. So Inglewood has no sound ordinance? Or are all the rules thrown out for a fee?"
Dwayne's sentiments were echoed by many others who reached out via social media to Eye On Inglewood, pleading for a solution to the intrusive noise levels.
"Dear Inglewood, turn the music down. It's too loud if I can hear it in Westchester," one resident implored.
Marla Warren was equally exasperated, writing, "OMG!! Dear Inglewood, the music is too loud. I can hear it in Westchester from inside the house."
The complaints extended beyond just the volume of the music. Richard Coronado raised concerns about the aftermath of the events, calling for increased police presence in residential areas to manage the influx of festival-goers spilling into neighborhoods. "How can we get Inglewood PD to patrol the residential areas after SOFI Stadium events?" Coronado asked. "We understand people will make it into our streets, but they shouldn't be hanging out being loud and trashing our streets."
The number of public frustration signals a potential need for Inglewood city officials to address these noise concerns more robustly, particularly as SOFI Stadium continues to host large-scale events that draw significant crowds—and sound levels. Measures such as stricter enforcement of sound ordinances, improved communication with event organizers, and enhanced post-event policing may be essential to maintain community harmony.
