The Olympics have officially been entrusted to Los Angeles.
On her social media, Mayor Bass shared:
"It was an immense honor to participate in this historic moment, and a privilege to stand alongside @Simone Biles - someone who has made the entire country proud.
I hope that, together with Mayor Hidalgo, we conveyed a powerful message to girls around the world: they can achieve anything they set their minds to, whether it's going for the gold or running for office."
